Beautiful Holiday Poinsettias

Many of us associate the beautiful Poinsettia plant with the holiday season. The plant has an interesting history and uses. The Poinsettia plant is native to Central America and flowers during the winter in an area of southern Mexico. The ancient Aztecs called them 'cuetlaxochitl' and had several uses for them. They used the flowers (which are actually special types of leaves called bracts) to make a purple dye for clothes and cosmetics. They also used the white latex sap from the plant as a medicine to treat fevers. 

We know about poinsettias today largely due to the first ambassador from the U.S. to Mexico. In 1825 Joel Roberts Poinsett (that's why we call them Poinsettias) brought some plants back to his greenhouses in South Carolina. He began growing them and sending them to friends and botanists. These friends shared and sold the plant and their popularity grew quickly. Their cheerful and festive colours bring us joy during the winter months and the holiday season.

Bloomex launches powerful new online shopping site in Canada

Bloomex, Canada’s largest floral and gift retailer, has recently launched a new online shopping site called GoodsArbitrage.ca. GoodsArbitrage.ca provides Canadians with a simple and guaranteed option for accessing and purchasing millions of top, brand-name items over the web. Items are shipped directly to the purchaser, at guaranteed all-inclusive prices.

Bloomex conquered the online florist industry by buying directly from flower growers, creating and distributing orders from their own facilities, and thus offering consumers the lowest possible prices on the freshest flowers. With the launch of GoodsArbitrage.ca, they are seeking to bring Canadians a better option when it comes to online shopping for a vast array of top retail and commercial merchandise.  

The site’s tagline “Anything is Here” is accurate—customers can find hundreds of thousands of items in every conceivable category, from custom sporting goods to home and garden items, appliances to cameras. The site is simple and easy to use; customers can search by SKU or by keyword to find the item or category of interest. 

“It’s rare that consumers are ahead of retailers,” says Mark Camphaug, Director of Sales and Marketing, “but that is the case in Canada. Canadians are eager to buy online, but either the item they want isn’t available in Canada, or if it is, it’s for a much higher price. The same exact item may be significantly lower in the US or Europe and we wanted to find a way to address this.”

Canadian online customers often face unknown customs fees, high shipping charges, added taxes, and other hidden costs that boost the bottom line significantly. On GoodsArbitrage.ca the price you see is the final, total price, guaranteed. Added transfer costs are already accounted for, so shoppers can rest easy knowing they are getting the exact item they want, at the best possible price. 

“Our global ability to search down items and buy in volume means significantly reduced customs and shipping costs, a savings we pass on to the consumer,” Camphaug explains. And as an added bonus, if the customer still feels the price is too high, they can use the site’s innovative “Make an Offer” feature to place a bid for their chosen item. GoodsArbitrage.ca will review the bid, and if they can bring in the item for that price, they will. The customer will receive a phone call or an email advisory either way. 

All goods are delivered directly to the shopper’s front door, with “white glove” service—the company contacts the customer to make sure that someone is home and the arranged time is convenient. The site also offers a new COD option, so shoppers can buy with confidence. Any returns are easy and hassle-free.

Bloomex.ca Launches New Site Design

Bloomex.ca, Canada’s largest online florist, is proud to launch a new design for its website today.

The new design is a fresh new look for Bloomex, which continues to flourish as the country’s leading florist. The highlights of these refreshed pages are a modernized layout that is well-suited for modern screens and devices and an emphasis on image-driven layout, making the customer experience easier and more intuitive.

“We felt it was time to take refresh our online appearance in accordance with our valued customers’ expectations,” said Mark Camphaug, Director of Marketing & Sales for Bloomex. “Our old design served us very well for a number of years, but we feel that our new layout will make the buying experience even easier and provide a bit of a fresh look."

Launched in 2005, Bloomex reported record sales and revenues in 2013. The company is unlike other florists in that it deals directly with growers, eliminating the middlemen that serve to drive up prices for end consumers of the company's competitors.

After the implementation of the new layout on Bloomex.ca, the company expects to roll out a similar look in the coming weeks for Bloomex Australia at bloomex.com.au.

Bloomex Australia Introduces 10 New Bouquets

Bloomex Australia, the fastest-growing florist in the nation, announced the introduction of 10 new bouquets for its customers today.

The new arrangements range in price from $69.95 AUD to $119.95. Some of the highlighted offerings include the “Strikingly Chic” bouquet, a vibrant assortment of Roses, Dahlias and Gerberas; the “Grass is Greener” bouquet, a colourful mixed bouquet with a gentle, spring-like colour palette; and the “Love’s Divine” arrangement, a stunning mix of red and white roses accented with fresh greens.

Brendan Dyke, Marketing Manager for the company’s Australian operations, said that many of the new offerings are on-trend and expected to become popular, best-selling  products.

“Our continued growth and success allows us to be responsive to the requests of our customers and tailor our new products towards them,” Dyke said. “We have some absolutely beautiful arrangements that we feel will really resonate with people’s tastes and become very successful additions to our product lines.”

Bloomex operates a production facility in Auburn, and the company services the cities and suburban regions of Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane. The organization’s unique business model cuts out ‘middlemen’ wholesalers, reducing overhead costs and allowing customers to save in the 35% to 50% range compared to other Australian florists. Orders are placed online at www.bloomex.com.au, or by phone at 1800 451 637 and then shipped directly to customers from the company’s production facility via local courier.

Bloomex is currently enjoying its highest sales volume (Q1) in the Australian market since the company expanded its operations there in 2011. This past Valentine’s Day was the company’s most successful in its history, with close to 3,000 orders being delivered down under.

Based in Ottawa, Ont., Canada, Bloomex was founded in 2005 and in addition to its operations in Australia, has production facilities in eight Canadian cities as well as Miami, Fla., USA.
